Travelling Classroom – 7 Nights / 8 Days
Jump onto the Travelling classroom in Dublin city centre and join us on our exciting 7-night (8 day) tour. Our first stop is Kilkenny, where we will spend the night, then we travel south to Limerick and west to Galway, the City of Tribes, returning to Dublin for the weekend for our Hop-On Hop-Off special!
This exciting cultural and linguistic tour is ideal for everyone interested in learning more about the history of Ireland and improving English language skills. You will learn new and interesting facts by participating in our fun cultural quizzes, linguistic games and traditional songs!
Participants are booked into their accommodation from Sunday to Sunday. The Travelling Classroom departs from Dublin city centre on Monday morning and returns on Friday evening.
The Travelling Classroom Includes:
- English language teacher/guide to accompany group while touring
- 7 nights’ hostel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis in four-bedded or six-bedded rooms – most rooms have private bathrooms
- Extensive touring departing Dublin in an executive coach travelling West across Ireland to Kilkenny, Limerick and Galway with visits en route.
- All entrance fees while touring
- City hopping at its best – visit the sights of Dublin by participating on our Hop On – Hop Off Tour during last weekend in Dublin.

Sample Itinerary - 7 nights / 8 days
Day 1
Sunday – DUBLIN
Arrive in Dublin. Explore your new surroundings and enjoy Ireland’s capital city with its bustling and lively streets. Wander through the cobbled streets of Temple Bar and discover Irish pubs alive with animated conversations and music from U2, the Chieftains and the Dubliners!
Evening: 19.00pm. Welcome meeting in accommodation – meet other participants on the Travelling Classroom. Overnight in Dublin. An overview of the Travelling Classroom itinerary + welcome packs.
Day 2
Monday – DUBLIN TO KILKENNY (122 kms)
Morning: After breakfast – an informal seminar prior to departing for Dublin in a south-westerly direction towards Kilkenny. Arrive in the mediaeval capital of Ireland in time for lunch.
Afternoon: Guided walking tour of Kilkenny city to include a selection from:
Shee Alms House, St. Mary’s Monument room, Tholsel, Butter Slip, Kyteler’s Inn (witches house), Market Slip, Courthouse/City Jail, Rothe House (weather permitting), City Wall/City gate, Black Abbey, St. Canice’s Cathedral (weather permitting) and St. Mary’s Cathedral.
Evening: At leisure for dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Tuesday – KILKENNY TO LIMERICK via Bunratty Castle (146 kms)
Morning: After breakfast – an informal seminar on the history of Bunratty prior to departure.
Mid-morning: Depart Kilkenny and travel towards Limerick. Visit 15th century Bunratty Castle and Folk Park en route.
Lunch in Bunratty (or bring packed lunch).
Afternoon: Meet and chat with the Bean an Ti (Woman of the House) as well as the Policeman and Schoolteacher. Enjoy the sights and sounds of this enchanting place as you stroll around this charming village, which includes a school, post office, doctor’s house, hardware shop, printers and of course the pub!
Continue the short journey to Limerick (13 kms).
Evening: At leisure for dinner and overnight in Limerick.
Day 4
Wednesday – LIMERICK TO GALWAY via Cliffs of Moher (100 kms)
Morning: After breakfast – an informal seminar on the beautiful and rugged west of Ireland and in particular, our next visit, the Cliffs of Moher.
Mid-morning: We head North-West via Ennis towards the imposing Cliffs of Moher, a spectacular 8-kilometre long cliff, rising almost 220 metres above sea-level. Stop for lunch en route.
Afternoon: As we travel through the strange lunar landscape of The Burren, one of the most distinct regions in Ireland, you will be able to test your knowledge on what we have learnt so far on the Travelling Classroom, before arriving in at the city of Galway.
Evening: Dinner at leisure and overnight in Galway.
Day 5
DAY 5: Thursday – GALWAY – Connemara tour with visits en route.
Morning: After breakfast – an informal seminar on Connemara and the surrounding areas before travelling further west.
Mid-morning: Depart Galway heading west to Clifden and into the wild and rugged Connemara region, famous for the savage beauty of its lake and mountain scenery. Stop en-route to take photographs.
Free for lunch and shopping in the picturesque town of Clifden.
Afternoon: Visit the magnificent Kylemore Abbey – a beautiful mansion set in the heart of Connemara, overlooking Pollacapul lake.
Evening: Dinner at leisure and overnight in Galway.
Day 6-7-8
Friday – GALWAY – DUBLIN (207 kms)
Morning: After breakfast – an informal seminar and a quiz with prizes on what we have seen and learnt on the tour.
Mid-morning: Depart Galway for Dublin. Stop en-route for lunch.
Evening: Free for dinner and overnight in Dublin.
Saturday – DUBLIN
At leisure after breakfast – Hop-On and Hop-Off on a Dublin city tour carefully designed to give you the freedom to explore Dublin city.
Evening: Overnight in Dublin.
Sunday – DEPART DUBLIN
Morning: After breakfast, check-out of accommodation and prepare for departure.
